  • Sheikh Rashid – A Great Man Who Can Never Be Replaced

Sheikh Rashid – A Great Man Who Can Never Be Replaced

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was born in November 12, is the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister of UAE and emir of Dubai.

Just yesterday morning, September 19 2015,  the whole UAE was devastated by the tragic news of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s death from heart attack, at the young age of 33.

This is yet another time, where people unite and mourn for losing a remarkable prince. He will be forever remembered as a prince like no other, and whose legacy will continue to be the talk even after many generations.

Looking back at his astonishing achievements, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum managed to bring honor to his family and country, several times in different occasions, even in international competitions.

He got his most exceptional achievement when he entered 2006 Asian Games. The whole UAE was watching that time. With gleaming eyes, everyone hoped he could really win – He did in the end. He answered to everyone’s expectation.

He won 2 GOLD MEDALS, one is 120 Km Endurance Individual, and the other is 120 Km Endurance Team Mixed events.

He was able to win despite the fierce competition. His opponents trained day and night just to achieve the best possible condition during the event. Yet he was able best them. This just shows how much talent the prince really had.

Inspired by his leadership, Zabeel Racing International recorded an unbelievable winning rate of five times more with over 428 wins. He was a man who never failed to surprise people – a great man indeed.

He was also one of the founding members of Dubai Sports and Cultural club. In January 2008, he was chosen and given the highest position in UAE Olympic committee, and not until 2010 that he decided to leave the position due to overload in his work schedule.

According to The National UAE website:

President Sheikh Khalifa declared three days of mourning across the UAE, with flags at government departments and institutions to fly at half mast. Sheikh Khalifa expressed his heartfelt condolences and solace to Sheikh Mohammed.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also mourned the death of Sheikh Rashid and expressed condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Al Maktoum family.

“God bless the deceased young man … We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” the Court of the Ruler of Dubai said.

The Court said work at Dubai government entities would continue as usual, according to the Dubai Media Office. Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which regulates the emirate’s private schools, has said schools will remain open.

UAE government institutions, including the Federal National Council, and officials have offered condolences, along with the Ruler’s Courts of the emirates and the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and the Arab League.

Prayers will be held at Zabeel mosque on Saturday evening and he will then be buried in Umm Hurair cemetery in Bur Dubai. Roads from the mosque to the cemetery will be closed from 6.40pm to 7.30pm, Dubai Media Office said. Roads subject to closure include Al Majlis Street in front of Zabeel mosque, Zabeel Road and Street 3 leading to the cemetery.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Prince of Dubai in his heartfelt statement yesterday, he said, “Today, I lost a best friend and a childhood companion, my dear brother Rashid,” and in his final statement, “You will be missed.”

No doubt about it, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is an exceptional Prince. He is loved and cherished by his friends, family and the people. He will always be missed.

The Anti-Discriminatory Law was enacted last July 20, 2015 and was issued followed the proclamation by President Sheikh Khalifa. Any form of discrimination against people and religion will be considered an act of violation against the state rules.

Having said this, Al Sherooq H&P – one of the best among UAE law firms would like to advice UAE citizens and Expats to be responsible and sensitive when giving their opinion towards the issue of religion, caste creed, doctrine, race, color, or ethnic origin.

The elements of violating the law includes speech and written word, books, pamphlets, or even online media such as blogs, social media posts, website articles and even online comments.

Anti-Discriminatory Law included terms for penalizing anyone for hating and labeling other religions groups or individuals as infidels or unbelievers. The law is believed to be an act of strengthening UAE as a country that thrives on progressive and equal society.

UAE aims for a society free from discrimination. A prosperous place for open-minded people and safeguard them their origin, belief or race, from any harm directed to their well being and religious belief.

The state won’t tolerate any form of discrimination and penalties for violation in accordance of law include jail terms ranging from 6 months to more than 10 years. Fines will range from DH50 thousand to DH2 million.

The law criminalizes acts considered as insulting God, his prophets or apostles or holy books or houses of worship of graveyards. Provisions included anti-discrimination advocate for unnecessary fights on basis of religion, caste doctrine, race,  colour or ethnic origin.

The law deplored violence such as hate of speech and promotion of discrimination in all media platforms such as prints, online, and visual media. Any form of hate expression in speech and published media will not be tolerated.

    According to Wam Report:

“The law prohibits any entity or group established specifically to provoke religious hatred and recommends stringent punishments for groups or supporters of any organizations or individuals that are associated with hate crimes.”

“It also bars any kind of events such as conferences and meetings within the UAE organized with the sole purpose of sowing seeds of discrimination, discord or hatred against individuals or groups on the basis of faith, origin or race. Receiving financial support for such activities is also punishable under the new law.”

“The law encourages anyone involved in any activity that violates the law to voluntarily submit themselves before the authorities and has provisions allowing the courts to waive penalties in such cases.”

“The new law does not contradict with any other existing laws meant to protect specially privileged groups in the society such as women, children and individuals with disabilities or others.”

  • The 10 Timeless Life Lessons Famous Graphic Artists Taught Us

The 10 Timeless Life Lessons Famous Graphic Artists Taught Us

Imagine a world without Graphic Designers? What could it be? Needless to say, there would be no: Traffic signs, distinguishing icon between ambulance and police cars, distinguishing icon between brands, organized reading materials and flag designs.

Life could be at stake at any moment now. Every thing would be boring. Decision-making won’t be easy. Learning can’t be fun anymore. Imagine the catastrophe without them. Graphic Designers contributed so much we can live conveniently right now.

Yet it’s strange, only few can recognize even most iconic leaders in Graphic Design world. Why? Following are Timeless Life Lessons famous graphic artists taught us.

    1. Milton Glaser

    Doubt is Better Than Certainty

It makes me nervous when someone believes too deeply or too much. I think that being skeptical and questioning all deeply held beliefs is essential. Of course we must know the difference between skepticism and cynicism, because cynicism is as much a restriction of one’s openness to the world as passionate belief is. They are sort of twins. And then in a very real way, solving any problem is more important than being right…one of the signs of a damaged ego is absolute certainty.

    2. Paula Scher

    Nothing is Timeless

You never can do what the kids do. What you do is look at yourself and find your own way to address the fact that the times have changed and that you have to pay attention. You can’t be a designer and say, “Oh, this is timeless.” Nothing is timeless!

    3. Saul Bass

    Keep Pushing Until it Works

The nature of process, to one degree or another, involves failure. You have at it. It doesn’t work. You keep pushing. It gets better. But it’s not good. It gets worse. You got at it again. Then you desperately stab at it, believing “this isn’t going to work.” And it does!

    4. Stefan Sagmeister

    You Define Your Own Happiness

If you make more than fifty thousand bucks a year in the US, and a salary increase you’re gonna experience tiny influence on your well being. Black people are just as happy as white people are. If you’re old or young, it doesn’t really make a difference. If you’re ugly or if you’re really good looking makes no difference or whatsoever. You will adapt to it and get used to it.

    5. Paul Rand

    Simplicity Speaks

He understood the universality of symbols and how human beings communicate with shapes and color and form. If he did a logo for a company that happened to look like a face, he’d look at everything from pre-Columbian sculptures to African masks to naive drawings, all of which addressed how expressive the human faces could be. The big lesson you can take from rank is the search for simplicity

    6. Otl Aicher

Good Art Inspires; Good Design Motivates

If we read between the lines, it says inspiration is different from motivation. While inspiration is the process of being emotionally stimulated by extraordinary quality feeling, motivation is the reason of doing something. In a nutshell, motivation is the pull and inspiration is the push. Thus, we need to be inspired and motivated at the same time to translate our goal to success.

    7. Michael Beirut

    Don’t Avoid The Obvious

Don’t avoid the obvious at all cost. Instead, embrace the obvious. The obvious can be your friend. No one else likes it, every single one of us avoids the obvious, it feels bad for itself, the obvious is lonely, and it needs friends. Be friends with the obvious.

    8. David Carson

Utilize Who You Are, You Are Unique

You have to utilize who you are in your work. Nobody else can do that: nobody else can pull from your background, from your parents, your upbringing, your whole life experience.

    9. Alan Fletcher

    Be Driven by Your Inadequacy

I couldn’t actually do anything else. I always thought I could design well as a student, but then I would find someone who could do it better. But it wasn’t so far off, it wasn’t unattainable, it was just difficult. So I was driven by my own inadequacy, probably.

    10. Chip Kidd

Never Fall in Love With Ideas, They’re Whores

The thought implies the danger behind falling in love with the idea. It hinders your capacity to rework ideas. It hinders your ability to evaluate them effectively. It clouds your judgment and your ability to see problems or conflicts in the idea.
